Partnering with ACCA on ‘Exams at Home’
From early June ACCA candidates have been able to take exams at home or in another location of their choice. In response to the pandemic, candidates can continue their professional journey with the help of our newest client solution, remote invigilation alongside our partners ACCA and ProctorU.
At present most exam centres are still closed; however, candidates have been able to sit exams from 11 June regardless of where they are – at home, in an office or even at an exam centre, where that’s possible. Exams are invigilated remotely by a real person, supported by checks and alerts involving biometrics, artificial intelligence and recording for later review. This guarantees that the integrity of the test and all security measures are up to the standards expected from ACCA and the British Council.
With the British Council being a trusted, worldwide partner, it was important to find and accelerate a solution to help with business resumption as quickly as possible. The collaboration to deliver ‘Exams at Home’ through remote invigilation is a great example of this, proving that adversity can create opportunities.

Remote invigilation
At the same time as the project to deliver remotely invigilated exams for ACCA, a joint business and implementation project team ran an accelerated tender to put in place a longer-term arrangement for working with multiple remote proctoring suppliers. Whilst we were already some way on the journey of building and defining our technology offer, the pandemic influenced our decisions and ambitions to quickly evolve to meet the needs of clients to do things differently and safeguard their businesses. Having a framework of suppliers allows us to offer solutions tailored to meet the differing needs of clients.
