Dr Yildiz Tugba Kurtulus Kara

Founder and Managing Director, Society 5.0 Institute

Yildiz is a social entrepreneur and founded Society 5.0 Institute, a London-based social enterprise that fosters social innovations serving sustainability, in 2017. Prior to this she held senior roles at the Turkish Ministry of Economy, Istanbul Chamber of Industry and at an international cross-border digital trade platform. Yildiz is a visiting Lecturer at Regent's University London, teaching Sustainability and International Political Economy. 

Darren Coyle

Country Director Colombia and Peru, British Council

Darren Coyle is currently serving as Country Director British Council for Colombia and Peru. Prior to this, he worked as Programme Lead from the British Council’s Head Office in London for a number of global programmes across the education space spanning 20 years. Darren was awarded an MBE for services to Education and Sporting Opportunities for Young People globally. 

 

Lourenco Capriglione

Lourenco is a climate advocate from the northeast of Brazil. He recently completed a Masters in Environment and Sustainable Development at University College London with a Chevening Scholarship. 

 

Margarita Maria Mendez Sandoval

Co-Founder, Fundacion Koikos

Margarita co-founded the non-profit organisation Fundación Koikos, which has now provided training to fight corruption using the right to petition for over 25,000 people across Colombia. Koikos has supported communities to stop actions of corruption from public authorities and ensure that taxes are spent appropriately. Koikos also has a programme that provides single mothers with free legal and psychological assistants, which has so far helped around 200 families.

 

Professor Adam Habib

Director, SOAS, University of London

Professor Adam Habib is an academic, researcher, activist and well-known public intellectual. A Professor of Political Science, Adam has over 30 years of academic, research and administration expertise, spanning five universities and multiple local and international institutions. Adam’s areas of focus are democratisation in South Africa, contemporary social movements, philanthropy, inequality, giving and its impact on poverty alleviation and development, and institutional reform.

  

Alexandru Savva

CEO, Central Securities Depository

Alexandru is a lawyer and financial market expert, with over 20 years of experience in the financial-banking sector. He worked at the National Bank of Moldova, Commission for Financial Markets and various programs of the World Bank, USAID and international consulting companies. Alexandru acted as the CEO of the Single Central Securities Depository where he led policy, compliance and legal teams and has authored and co-authored numerous legal acts, reports, and publications on financial markets.

 

Andrew Chadwick

Global Programme Lead, Higher Education and Science, British Council

Andrew Chadwick is the lead for the British Council’s Global Alumni Programme and outward mobility programmes. The portfolio of work includes oversight of several scholarship programmes managed by the British Council. Andrew has worked for the British Council since 2008, beginning his career with them in Chile before transferring. His background is in history, non-profit management and business administration and is an alumnus of Edinburgh and LSE.

Yen Vu is CEO of Be Group - a 7 million user consumer digital platform from Vietnam, with 1.5 million monthly transacting users, providing fully-fledged on-demand transportation, food delivery, digital goods and financial product distribution. Yen has experience in working with multiple stakeholders and government and international partnerships across industries including financial, consumer and healthcare organisations to form multi-party partnerships and achieve commercial results.

 

Scott McDonald

Chief Executive, British Council

Prior to joining the British Council, Scott was President & CEO of the Oliver Wyman Group, sat on the Executive Committee of Marsh & McLennan Companies and worked in investment banking, the magazine industry, and ran a small publishing company. Scott is a member of the Global Strategy & Leadership Expert Panel of McGill University’s Desautels Faculty of Management and sits on the European Advisory Board for The Nature Conservancy and the Advisory Group for Yodomo, a UK crafting platform.

Shaun Adam Bin Abdullah

Community Lead, Regional and Global Cooperation, Asia-Pacific, World Economic Forum

Shaun leads the World Economic Forum’s regional and global cooperation between governments and businesses in the Asia-Pacific region to shape sustainable and inclusive development agendas. He was previously attached to the United Nations working on trade policy and socio-economic development in Southeast Asia, Africa, and Eastern Europe and headed the trade and advocacy department of the European Union Business Chambers in the ASEAN region, supporting the ASEAN Economic Community.
