The British Council has welcomed the creation of the Big Lottery Fund's Spirit of 2012 Trust - which will help to secure a lasting social and community legacy from the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics.
Johne Worne, Director of Strategy at the British Council, said: “The London 2012 Games gave the UK’s reputation overseas a terrific boost – thanks in no small part to the way they showcased UK excellence and creativity, our ‘can-do’ attitude and an inclusive, diverse and modern society. It’s great to see that the Spirit of 2012 Trust will help further strengthen these national assets and continue the wider legacy of a truly great Olympics and Paralympics. Well done to the Big Lottery Fund for keeping the spirit of 2012 alive here at home – all of which helps us continue to share it abroad with Rio, Tokyo and beyond.”
