This April, we invite all literary enthusiasts to join the new session of the British Council Reading Marathon—an exciting two-month online literary journey for book lovers to grow as engaged readers!

Get ready for a captivating challenge filled with adventures between the pages.

Your mission:

  • Read 4 books : Borrow at least four books from our curated digital library collection and complete them within two months.
  • Engage: Participate in insightful session with the UK storyteller and author. 
  • Reflect: Share your thoughts on your reading journey with fellow readers.

Who can join?

The programme is open to all British Council library members aged 18 and above, free of charge.

Opening Ceremony

Friday, 18 April 2025 11.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. (UTC)

• Introduction to the programme format and digital library platform
• Interaction with a renowned UK author, gaining unique insights into their writing process and creative journey ;
• Exciting preview of what’s ahead>

Storytelling Session

Friday, 9 May 2025, 11.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. (UTC)

  • Learn storytelling techniques from UK storyteller Emily Hennesey.
  • Encourage imagination and creativity by bringing stories to life through engaging narration.
  • Enhance listening and comprehension skills, fostering a deeper connection with storytelling. 
  • Promote a love for reading and literature, inspiring participants to explore more books.
  • Strengthen social and emotional learning by sharing diverse perspectives and experiences.

Certificate Distribution

 

Participants who read and complete reading logs for a minimum of four books by 18 June 2025 will be awarded a certificate.
