Duration 01 February - 31 March 2021

Role overview

About the project:

The British Council is planning to promote six new on-line courses through social and printed media as part of two ELT projects that we are launching in 2021 - ELT for the Planet and Girls in Language Education

ELT for the Planet

We are supporting the UK’s role in The 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 26) through a global programme centred on climate change, including a specific strand focusing on environmental sustainability in English language teaching and learning: ‘ELT for the Planet’.  This part of the project focuses on teacher development and empowerment.  English language teachers will learn how to adapt/supplement ELT coursebooks with environmental sustainability throughout the curriculum and integrate 21st century skills, including critical thinking, into ELT lessons integrating environmental sustainability in the creative English language classroom.:

Girls in Language Education

In this project the British Council is seeking to further its work and understanding of gender issues in and around language teaching in a variety of educational systems and contexts.  This contributes to a growing cannon of knowledge and teacher development that works towards inclusive education and societies.  Our overall aim is to contribute to widening participation and inclusion in language education across the world.  The project aims to reach primary and secondary teachers working globally in formal and non-formal education systems.

We are looking to produce social media assets for Facebook, Twitter and Instagram as well as flyers for traditional marketing purposes that will lead to increased registration and participation in the online courses and related Facebook Live events.

About the role

This role will require working remotely to produce up to 400 social media images and assets that meet the British Council’s style and branding guidance and the size and format specs of Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.  The images to be used for these assets can be downloaded from the British Council’s Brand Hub and access will be granted to successful applicants.  The consultant will be required to select relevant and suitable images from the asset bank against a set of agreed criteria and develop engaging social media that will fulfil our aims. Examples of similar assets are here.

The consultant will receive a fee depending on their experience, with an hourly rate paid. No travel or accommodation will be required or paid as part of this consultancy.
