Our work in schools supports overseas governments and non-governmental actors seeking to understand the main policies and initiatives in the four education systems in the UK. We want to have assets that will inform global British Council staff about the main education policies and will enable them to share this knowledge with stakeholders and partners.
We seek answers to the following questions:
- In the four countries of the UK, what are the main policies concerning the following policy areas:
- School leadership
- Curriculum
- Workforce
- Assessment
- Inclusion
- What do these policies seek to achieve?
- How have these policies been implemented and what evidence is available regarding their success?
- Do these policies represent some of the key strengths of the school system? In what way?
About the role
For each of the policy areas we are seeking a consultant to conduct desk research using the relevant education policies and research papers to produce the following:
- A PowerPoint presentation outlining answers to the questions above with speaker notes on education policy
- An associated policy paper with additional reading suggestions.
Deliverables

- Outline what these policies will achieve, identifying potential barriers or challenges that exist within each country
- Provide detailed speaker notes to accompany the PowerPoint in order that overseas colleagues have sufficient information to present the slides
