The British Council fosters peace and prosperity by connecting people in the UK with those worldwide. Through cultural activities, we build trust, deepen relationships, and enhance dialogue for greater mutual understanding.

In line with this mission, we launched the New Voices in Cultural Relations Master’s dissertation competition in partnership with the British International Studies Association (BISA).

This prize recognizes exceptional dissertations that offer new insights or innovative policy directions in international relations. It celebrates the achievements of Master’s students in the UK and promotes their contributions to the field.

This work builds on the Cultural Relations Collection, an essay series written primarily by early-career researchers examinining what is meant by ‘cultural relations’ and how this approach has evolved in theory and practice over time.
