About the panel

Silvia Bastow
Silvia is an experienced Subject Leader and teacher of German at Ercall Wood Academy in Shropshire with over 17 years of teaching experience in secondary education, SLE, research lead, GCSE examiner, Fellow of Chartered College of Teaching (FCCT), ITT mentor and a proud member of the ALL council. She is an author and presenter who has worked with several language organisations, such as Linguascope, ALL, Language World, Language Show, Seneca and researchEd.
Silvia writes a successful educational blog and is very passionate about SLA, evidence-informed practice to ensure high-impact teaching and learning.

Lucy Dreznin
Lucy is head of German at Arden Academy in the West Midlands. Now in her fourth year of teaching, she works to promote a pedagogy that combines her love for languages and the arts to help teachers bring out their creative side in the MFL classroom.
Drawing from her previous career as a children's theatre director and arts marketing assistant, Lucy is eager to use authentic materials and ICT in the classroom to help teachers bring their experience to their planning, and to inspire and motivate pupils in their language learning journey. Chris Lillington
Chris is an assistant headteacher at Prince Henry's Grammar School, a large 11-18 comprehensive school and former specialist Language College in Otley, West Yorkshire. As well as teaching Spanish for the past 27 years, Chris also leads the school's equality, diversity and global citizenship education programmes Chris has developed and supported over a dozen curriculum-based projects and exchanges with partner schools from around the world. He is also a Specialist Leader of Education (SLE) for MFL, and co-author of Pearson's ¡Viva! series for Key Stage 3 and GCSE Spanish.
Vicky Gough
Vicky is lead for MFL in the UK for the British Council. She has worked on a range of international opportunity and language programmes for schools as well as commissioning research into the teaching and learning of languages.
