This comprehensive training programme for professionals in the industry will take place in Beirut in January and Spring 2018 and will bring together 15 photojournalists to develop skills in storytelling and creative entrepreneurship from our training partners, Thomas Foundation and Dar al Mussawir.
Combining face-to-face workshops in Beiruit, with online mentoring, and a digital toolkit, photojournalists will acquire the skills to capture and share stories of individuals living in conflict-affected countries, to develop their careers as creative entrepreneurs, and to form a regional future peer support network.
Since March 2015, Yemen has been in a state conflict that has shattered the country’s social fabric and led to an unprecedented humanitarian crisis. The lack of coverage by local and international media, due to to travel restrictions and other limitations, and a photography skills shortage in part due to a lack of a formal photography education, means we are not hearing or seeing the stories of the 26.83 million (2015) Yeminis.
We are pleased to announce that following a competitive tender process, Thomas Foundation have been selected to co-deliver this programme.
