Ignite Culture strengthens the cultural and creative sectors in the regions by facilitating networking, knowledge exchange, and collaboration between cultural and creative entrepreneurs, by enhancing their access to markets and funding opportunities.
In Eastern Africa, it is implemented by the British Council and HEVA Fund with technical support from the Secretariat of the ACP Group of States and funded by the European Union. The ACP-EU Culture programme, Eastern Africa – Ignite Culture, intends to boost the potential of the cultural and creative sector and its contribution to the social and economic development of the ACP countries.
Programme outcomes so far
We have committed EUR4.5m to 37 grantees in 10 countries: Burundi, Ethiopia, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Rwanda, Somalia, Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda. Our grantees are implementing amazing projects across different value chains for their target communities and demographics. These projects will go a long way to making their own work and the work of their target communities more sustainable.
