Young artists from Kigali, Bristol and Kampala, will explore themes of isolation, community and difference using digital technology.
The interactive *Out of the Blue theatre collaboration will take place simultaneously in the UK and East Africa via platforms such as Facebook Live and Periscope.
work will explore:
- how young people use technology to navigate their way in the world, with one foot in the physical and one foot in the virtual world
- how they engage with globalisation, politics and conflict
- and how the emergence of social media changes young people’s relationships with each other, with their immediate physical communities and with the wider world.
* Out of the Blue is a working title.
The British Council has awarded Out of the Blue the new Art new Audiences grant
This project is in collaboration with MAYK (Bristol, UK), Ubumuntu Festival (Rwanda), Theatre Factory (Uganda).
