About

In collaboration with UCL IOE Press, we are proud to present Volume 6 in the series entitled 'Building nations, connecting cultures'.

Building on the key themes of education policy, economic development and engagement, this sixth volume considers the role of tertiary education in nation-building as well as the importance of international engagement and initiatives that demonstrate the strength of higher education’s cross-border networks and their unique contribution to a shared sustainable future.

The book captures the important debates and lessons learned from Going Global 2016 for researchers, policymakers and tertiary education practitioners to use in developing these conversations further, and as guidance for applying and advancing these ideas within their own institutional and policy settings. Edited by Mary Stiasny and Tim Gore of the University of London, the book arises from the presentations, discussions and panel sessions held at the Going Global conference that took place in Cape Town, South Africa in May 2016.
