The Creative Economy programme in Sub Saharan Africa (SSA) has concluded the second of three years of delivery across 11 countries. In 2022-23, 3,821 young creatives (aged 18-35) were supported to acquire new skills and knowledge, using arts as an enabler, and to create bilateral connections between countries in SSA and the UK. The results found a 40% improvement in business modelling and project management, and a 90% improvement in grant management through improved understanding of the creative economy. 80% of delivery partners reported improved access to commercial opportunities with UK creative professionals and the same proportion perceived the UK as a long-term valuable partner for their business. This contributed to increased viability for creative businesses within SSA, leading to tangible economic benefits.
