The third Fak’ugesi African Digital Innovation Festival took place in Johannesburg between 20 August - 30 September 2016.
This year’s theme was Afro Tech Riot, and broadly explored African visions of community, spirituality and the feminine.
The festival included seminars, exhibitions, game arcades, workshops, performances, innovation riots, installations, tech demos, parties and future sounds.
The British Council has awarded Jebet Naava the Mobility grant
The British Council East Africa Arts team was asked to nominate a Kenyan artist to participate in the festival.
We passed on this honour to the renowned digital artist and enthusiast Jechumba, creator and curator of the digital collective African Digital Art. Jechumba nominated the photographer and experimental digital artist Jebet Navaa to attend Fak’ugesi.
Watch the video above to find out how Jebet found the festival. She also shared some photos from fakugesi on Instagram, you can find them on #jebetntakeover
