From the 2-4 September 2016 over 200 artists from over 30 countries performed at the Nyege Nyege Festival in Jinja, Uganda. Famous as the source of the Nile, Jinja town is a major market centre for eastern Uganda.

British digital artist Gary Stewart collaborated with young artists (whom he had trained and worked with in May 2016) to produce a site-specific audio visual installation for Nyege Nyege International Music Festival.

During the festival, photographer Alexis Nereh (@alexisnereah) took over our Instagram @eastafricaarts and shared her experience of all three days.

The Mobility grant provided a bus for over 60 artists from Kenya, so they could attend and participate in the Nyege Nyege festival.
