Request for Proposal – Mapping trends and best practice in climate / sustainability and the arts 

We're commissioning this research to shape and inform its longer-term programme offer in Culture Responds to Global Challenges. In addition, this will help to ensure the British Council can continue to play an active role as a knowledgeable contributor and create opportunities for international cultural relations around the world.  

The research aims to provide a clear picture of key organisations and actors in the UK in terms of organisations / institutions, resources, relevant conferences and events, cultural festivals and networks in the following areas:

  • climate action through arts (and collaboration with science and tech)
  • cultural festivals and sustainability initiatives and resources for the cultural sector. Sustainability in design, architecture and fashion – focusing on the following four areas: sustainable construction; bio-design / bio-materials; crafts and links to indigenous traditions and materials, and “slow” design; slow fashion and sustainability in the fashion / textile industry.

The budget available for the research is up to £14,000 including VAT and all cost and expenses.

The aim of this research and analysis to provide a clear picture of key organisations and actors in the UK in terms of organisations/institutions, resources, relevant conferences and events, cultural festivals and networks in the following areas:

  • gender (empowerment, representation) and the arts
  • LGBQTI+ culture/community and the arts.

 The budget available for the research is up to £14,000 including VAT and all cost and expenses.
