International Skills Partnerships are the future of education."

(Marion Plant, Principal, North Warwickshire and Hinckley College, UK)

Our International Skills Partnerships (ISPs) bring together experienced organisations in the UK skills sector with counterparts in other countries to to develop and deliver an agreed project plan that supports national level policy priorities related to skills development and employability.

International Skills Partnerships are increasingly recognised by governments and industry as a powerful and highly cost-effective way of building skills.

Organisations benefit in a number of ways, from improving their offer to learners and building staff capacity, to gaining exposure to new markets.

Projects have been delivered in a range of sectors from fashion to engineering and finance. They have included the development of joint curricula, quality assurance methodologies, new models of employer engagement, careers guidance programmes and transferable skills training. Our annual awards recognise some of our most outstanding projects.

With our support and advice, partnerships can deliver real, sustainable change that can be replicated to transform national educational systems. They enable organisations to share knowledge and experience, and work together to develop new and imaginative approaches. With our support and advice, partnerships can deliver real, sustainable change that can be replicated to transform national educational systems.

The British Council organises an annual international skills partnership seminar Bringing the Learning Home which is designed to showcase established international partnerships and other organisations from around the world interested in addressing the skills challenge through international collaboration. Unfortunately, the 2017 event in Bali had to be cancelled owing to a volcanic eruption.

In lieu of this, we have produced a collection of ISP case studies featuring recent, awarding winning projects. The purpose of this document is to celebrate and recognise the hard work of all ISP projects as well as to showcase their impact to organisations, individuals and most importantly to international skills development.
