VET Toolbox is a partnership of leading European development agencies, including British Council (UK), Enabel (Belgium), Expertise France (France), GIZ (Germany), LuxDev (Luxembourg) and AFD (France). The project is co-funded by the European Union and by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

VET Toolbox aims to support partner countries in the design of national vocational education and training (VET) and employment strategies, and at strengthening their VET service delivery systems.

The current VET Toolbox programme began in September 2020 and is focussed on enhancing the delivery of demand-driven skills development and VET to cater for investment needs in 11 selected countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, with the British Council delivering the programme in two of these, Ghana and Malawi.

The programme is scheduled to run until August 2024. For more information, please see the VET Toolbox website and the VET Toolbox brochure.

The first VET Toolbox programme, which was initiated in 2017 and closed in December 2022, delivered significant impact across VET systems in Sub-Saharan Africa, South and East Asia, and Latin America. Our short-term technical assistance projects and partnerships between TVET colleges supported change at a systems level in each of the countries we worked with, and also delivered benefit to the UK, through creating business opportunities and building the capacity and networks of organisations and individuals. For more information, read the British Council VET Toolbox - Five-year report.
