At the British Council skills development and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) are at the heart of our mission to empower young people and build pathways to a prosperous future. By equipping the workforce with in-demand skills, we are helping tackle unemployment and drive economic growth across key sectors.
In Pakistan, under the Going Global Partnerships Programme we are working in partnership with People 1st International, an industry-led skills expert and part of The Workforce Development Trust in the hospitality, retail, travel, and aviation sectors and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zones Development and Management Company (KPEZDMC) to close the gap between workforce supply and industry demand in the food and beverages sector in Pakistan.
The International skills partnership focuses on sector-specific skills, ensuring that skills development aligns with the real needs of Pakistan’s growing industries. This collaboration pilots a sectoral approach to skills development including public-private dialogue, strengthening labour market information and developing an industry led curriculum, thus promoting skills that make a difference for Pakistan’s future—fostering resilience, productivity, and sustainable growth.
