The British Council is pleased to share a new Self - Assessment Tool (see the Downloads section below) which offers a practical way to analyse the status of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), including refugees in any given country. Users will be able to trace progress in this area over time in a specific country or across different countries.
It contains fields to describe a country's overall refugee context alongside a series of check-box questions to assess how suitable the country's TVET provision is for refugees; in relation to the availability of services, their accessibility for refugees, acceptability to refugees and adaptability to refugee circumstances and is based on the methodology used in our research.
The tool is aimed at individuals and organisations active in the field of refugees, education and skills and is designed to help you develop a better understanding of the factors affecting refugees’ inclusion in TVET in a specific country or across several countries.
We hope that the tool will also help you generate discussion on potential approaches to addressing the issues identified during the assessment. It also includes suggestions for enhancing refugees’ inclusion in TVET based on the scores achieved.
When conducting the assessment please use the excel format which is designed to provide you with a score based on your answers. For engagement purposes, to conduct a workshop or a policy dialogue, please use the PDF format which is a user-friendlier version when printed.
We are interested in learning more about the inclusion of refugees in TVET in different country and would encourage you to submit your completed forms to: skills@britishcouncil.org
